TL DR: If I want to get immersed in the world, look for all the little details, and enjoy the story, I'll boot up the main game or the story DLCs. To be clear, I don't think that DCT are as good as the story DLC, but the story DLC are some of the best content that Dishonored has ever seen, so it's not really a fair comparison. None of them are impossible (I should know, I've slogged through all of them for that 100% completion rate) but many of them are almost entirely luck based, where it would have been better to offer achievements that rewarded skilled gameplay. The worst part about the DCT is the achievements. They are great to load up if you just want to goof around and play through a certain aspect of the game (for example combat for BAB and stealth for Burglar) without loading up an old save file and finding the right situation. I find the DCT to be extremely fun, especially Burglar and Back Alley Brawl.
